With “Librarian 2026,” the series moves away from its familiar gesture of opening the book by hand. Instead, it introduces a more direct, almost instinctive approach to the motif.
The book is no longer held or controlled in the same way. The interaction shifts from a deliberate, conscious action toward something closer to the body—more immediate, less distanced. This changes the overall impact of the image. It is no longer just an interaction, but something that feels like entering the motif itself.
The focus moves toward the moment rather than the broader composition. Less space, fewer surrounding elements, and a stronger concentration on the core idea. The smaller format reinforces this, drawing attention directly to the center.
For me, this piece was a conscious decision not to simply continue the series, but to question its own visual language. What remains when a central element is changed? And how far can the motif shift without losing its core?
“Librarian 2026” represents that moment—an exploration within the series that pushes the idea forward without repeating it.

This original drawing was created on high-quality white Bristol drawing paper by Boesner with a grammage of 205 g/m², acid-free and PEFC-certified.
Only graphite pencils were used for this drawing, which has been fixed using Lukas fixative. Please do not touch the drawing with your bare hands, as there is a risk of smudging despite the fixative.
You will also receive a certificate of authenticity with the title of the drawing. When choosing your frame, make sure that the glass has UV protection. Your local art supply store will be happy to advise you.
